SOCIAL COMMITTEE

PURPOSE: The Social Committee exists to promote and encourage joyful and Christ-honouring fellowship both with the Church family and beyond while augmenting the total Church Ministry.

COMPOSITION OF THE COMMITTEE: The committee will be composed of 10-15 members from the church family who have an understanding of the purpose and mission of Fair Havens Community Church (FHCC) and have a relational walk with the Lord.

RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE COMMITTEE:

● kitchen supplies

● servant team coordinator

● food planning for the seniors' luncheons

● secretary to take minutes and notes of the planning meetings

● master of ceremonies for various church functions

● co-ordinate neighbours helping neighbours

MEETING SCHEDULE: Meetings will be held monthly or bi-monthly depending on needs at a central and mutually agreed location on the second Thursday of the month. Attendance is required at seventy five percent of the meetings with consideration of the Chair.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

● Seniors' Luncheons third Tuesday of the month at 12:00 to 2:00 pm, from September to June. Plan menu, assign people responsible to provide the food, plan a variety of programs for each meeting.

● Guess Who's Coming to Dinner on a yet to be determined Sunday in February or early March. Provide two lists for people to sign up to be a "host" or "guest" and how many people in a group or family.

● Good Friday Breakfast before the church service.

● Assist where needed for the Annual World Missions Conference Banquet as requested by the Mission Committee.

● Assist with the Annual Awana Award night BBQ as requested by the Awana Commander.

● Assist where needed for the September Christian Education Kick-Off BBQ after Church on the first Sunday following Labour Day.

● Organize Church Family Christmas Banquet and Program.

● Neighbours Helping Neighbours wherever and whenever a group of volunteers or individual can be available to assist or advise a need of a church member or adherent or a family member or acquaintance in their need of physical help or a special skill . {This policy to be refined}

● Christmas Eve apple cider and cookies following the Church Service.

● Coffee and Conversation after the evening service every second Sunday of each month.

● Special Showers such as babies and marriages. Lunches for funerals. (These are usually done through the Women's Group)

● Servant Teams to help with special social occasions.

● New Programs to be brought forward at monthly meetings for discussion with consideration of the chair. Then to be brought to the Combined Board for approval.
